Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program is one of the economic immigration programs offered by the Government of Canada. It is designed for skilled foreign workers who wish to become permanent residents of Canada and contribute to the Canadian economy.
To be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker program, you must meet the following requirements:
1. Work Experience: You must have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time work experience in a skilled occupation within the last ten years. The work experience must be classified under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system as Skill Type 0 (Managerial occupations) or Skill Level A (Professional occupations) or Skill Level B (Technical occupations and skilled trades).
2. Language Proficiency: You must demonstrate proficiency in English or French by taking an approved language test. The test results must meet the minimum requirements set by the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB).
3. Education: You must have completed at least a Canadian high school diploma or its foreign equivalent. It is beneficial to have a post-secondary degree or diploma from a recognized Canadian institution or a foreign credential with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report.
4. Proof of Funds: You must show that you have enough funds to support yourself and your family members upon arrival in Canada. The specific amount required depends on the size of your family.
5. Adaptability: You may earn additional points based on factors that demonstrate your ability to adapt to life in Canada. These factors include previous work or study experience in Canada, a valid job offer, or having a close family member who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
