Canadian Experience Class
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is a program under the Canadian immigration system that allows individuals who have gained skilled work experience in Canada to apply for permanent residency.
To be eligible for the CEC, you must meet certain requirements, which include:
1. Work Experience: You must have at least one year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years. The work experience must be in a skilled occupation under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system, which includes occupations categorized as Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations), Skill Level A (professional occupations), or Skill Level B (technical occupations and skilled trades).
2. Language Proficiency: You must demonstrate proficiency in English or French, which are the official languages of Canada. You can prove your language skills by taking an approved language test, such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP).
3. Education: While there is no specific education requirement for the CEC, having a post-secondary degree or diploma from a Canadian educational institution can enhance your eligibility and overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score if you decide to apply through the Express Entry system.
4. Temporary Resident Status: You must have valid temporary resident status in Canada at the time of application. This means you must either have a valid work permit or be authorized to work in Canada without a work permit (e.g., under the North American Free Trade Agreement).
5. Intention to Reside in a Province Other Than Quebec: The province of Quebec has its own immigration programs, so if you intend to reside in Quebec, you will need to apply through the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ) instead of the CEC.
