Care Giver Programs
Canada offers several caregiver programs that allow individuals to work and live in Canada as caregivers. These programs are designed to address the shortage of caregivers in the country and provide opportunities for foreign nationals to contribute to the Canadian workforce.
Here are some of the caregiver programs available in Canada:
1. Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot: These pilot programs were launched in June 2019 and are expected to run for five years. They allow foreign caregivers to come to Canada to work and gain Canadian work experience in specific caregiver occupations. These pilots provide a pathway to permanent residence for eligible caregivers and their family members.
2. Caring for Children Program: This program allows individuals to come to Canada as live-in caregivers to provide child care services for Canadian families. To be eligible, applicants must have at least one year of full-time work experience as a home child care provider, among other requirements.
3. Caring for People with High Medical Needs Program: This program enables individuals to work as live-in caregivers in Canada, providing care for individuals with high medical needs. Applicants must have at least six months of full-time training or one year of work experience in a related field, among other requirements.
